“Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.” —Sun Tzu The Art of War.

CFA (Classical Fighting Arts Magazine Karate Seminars) are held every year in the Okinawa Prefectural Budokan in Naha, Okinawa. Asahibashi, Tsubogawa, and Onoyama Koen monorail stations are all within easy walking distance. We also train at the Gokokuji Shinto Shrine in Onoyama Koen.

Our instructors are selected for their ability and experience, and many are world-famous for their specialities. Higa Sensei can pull anyone off their feet with apparent ease and teaches how to avoid this. Kuba Sensei has an arsenal of kata applications (bunkai) that are impossible to resist, and brutally effective. Itokazu Sensei is a leading teacher of Uechi Ryu and a former headmaster of the Matayoshi Kobudo organisation. Tsutomu Nakahodo Sensei is one of the most senior Uechi Ryu instructors in the world. Morio Higaonna Sensei is known for his phenomenal power and technical excellence.

While our seminars focus on core karate principles, (many of which are never taught in the West) little time is spent on the repetition of basic technique. The purpose of the training we offer is to expand and improve each student’s ability, regardless of their grade and experience. This is especially true in the areas of efficiency of movement, speed, striking power, and practical comprehension of kata and their applications. Over the 5 day training period, there are 2 seminars each day, each of which is taught by a different high-grade instructor (8th -10th Dan) with assistants.

Can I stay longer?
If you wish to extend your trip for sight-seeing etc. (or break your journey home to stopover in Tokyo), we can arrange for you to stay in the same hotel for the room fee only. The date of your return must be set when your ticket is issued, but can usually be any time within 30 days from your departure date, subject to seat availability. The quicker you sign up, the greater the choice of seats, and the less it will cost you! If everyone signs up late, you will all pay more.
